It time once again for another edition of the Meng Dynasty! So put the kids to bed..it's about to get ugly!
This time around we are gonna switch gears..I noticed that since I started the Dynasty board I haven't done a single edition on Rt Wrestling so in tonight's edition I will list changes I would make to the WWE if I were running it, plus I will vent my spleen on the inexplicable booking decisions concerning the final 2 matches of the last NWA TNA PPV..Now don't think I'm leaving Rp wrestling out completely I will have a little something to say about Rp promos...Lets get started.
As far as I'm concerned WWE has been a little bland lately I can't remember the last time they did anything that suprised me..in a good way that is...Nor has there been a break out star to take the promotion by storm..infact the last true break out star I can think of is..and it pains me to say it..Brock Lesnar..So here's a few things I would do to remedy the problem..
1. End the brand extension..as far as I'm concerned it has never worked and it long past time to end it..instead of having Raw VS Smackdown..I would give Smackdown to ECW, rename the show and cut off all "RAW" contact with the show with the exception of one PPV that would be an ECW VS WWE PPV...the problem with Raw VS Smackdown is that it's still WWE..it's WWE Raw VS WWE Smackdown...if Smackdown was converted to an ECW show and WWE wasn't mentioned at all, it would aura of two competing shows much more creditability.
2. I would use OVW and Deep South wrestling the the way they should be..the same way a Minor league baseball or hockey team is used..and that is to groom the next generation of new talent for the big leagues...think about it..in baseball when a guy shows some promise he is groomed for the majors over time he isn't immediately thrown into the majors to fend for himself...no he will start in the AA league and when he is ready he gets called up to the AAA league where he continues to train and learn until finally he gets the call to the majors..but it doesn't end there..the guy goes to the majors and play in a few games and if he shows that he is ajusting to the major league level and is able to hold his own there then he will probably stay there but if for any reason he is having trouble making the transition to the majors he gets sent back down untill the team feels he's ready for another shot.
OVW and Deep South should be used exactly the same way..If someone is interested in becoming a wrestler he goes to deep south for training and some ring experience if he show promise then he gets sent to OVW to further his training and to further develope his character..then when they feel he is ready then he gets a series of tryout dark matches on Raw or Smackdown. If he fares well then keep him on the show if he falters then send him back to OVW.
The problem I find with the WWE is that the moment a guy shows a little promise he is thrown on national TV, he comes off looking uncomfortable green as all hell..the fans quickly lose any interest in the guy and he never really amounts to anything..why? Because by the time the guy gets comfortable and begins to perform well it's too little too late because all the fans remember is the guy who was green as hell and screwing up moves. Also the WWE needs to create characters in OVW that can be used in the WWE..that way when a new guy comes up to the big leagues he is playing a character he is comfortable with and that will make the transition much easier.
3. I would develope the Tag Team division, Cruiserweight division & the Women's division...if you have healthy Tag Team, Cruiserweight & Women's divisions it will take a lot of pressure off the World and WWE champions...Hell a strong undercard was what kept WCW on top for as long as they were..there would be great Tag Team, Cruiserweight, U.S, and TV title matches on the unndercard followed by a big steaming pile of shit of a main event that would usually end in a screwjob or no decision followed by Hogan or someone from the NWO spray painting NWO on the guy that was beaten down.
4. Last but not least I would stop pushing mouthpieces and start pushing Wrestlers..fans today prefer guy who can get it done in the ring over guys who can talk on a mic. Thats why John Cena is booed out of the building on a weekly basis...If I were in charge guys like Matt Hardy, Bob Holly, Chris Benoit Etc..would at the top of the chain and guys like John Cena would be curtain jerking with Funaki and the Brooklyn Brawler.
On to the next topic..I watched NWA TNA Final Resolution a week ago and sat there totally baffeled by the booking of the last 2 matches.
1. Samoa Joe VS Kurt Angle 30min Iron man match..this match had a total of 5 falls of which 3 were against Samoa Joe thus completely destroying the near invincable aura he had..Joe tapped twice to the ankle lock and was pin via victory roll..they gave away Joe's first pinfall loss without one word of aknowlgement of the fact...Not only that Joe lost cleanly so the feud is pretty well done..ther is no need for another match unless Joe wins #1 contendership which he most likely will.
Here's how the match would have ended if I had been booking it..there would have been 3 falls total in the match...Joe tapping to the ankle lock and Angle tapping to the rear naked choke...then with about 2 minutes remaining in the match the ref would have taken a bump..Angle would have rolled to the outside and grabbed a chair then climbed back in the ring and attemped to use the chair..Joe and Angle would have fought over the chair and Joe would have gotten the chair away from Angle and blasted him with it just as the ref regained his marbles and saw him doing it..the ref would have given Angle the fall via DQ just seconds before time ran out giving Angle the win.
Had it been done that way the feud would have still been alive..Joe still would have had his invincibility aura..and the next time they met in the ring it would be for the NWA title.
2. Abyss VS Sting VS Christian Cage..Why the hell did they put the title on Christan? I have nothing against him but I don't think TNA fans want to see a WWE match for a PPV main event next month but thats what they are going to get with Angle VS Cage..If I had been booking this match I would have put the title on Sting..I think the fans would be waay more interested in dream match like Sting VS Kurt Angle.
One other thing..is it just me or does it seem like Tna is putting the talent that got them where they are on the back burner in favor of the former WWE talent that has come in to the company..it seem like every week all you see is the Dudleys, Kurt Angle, Christian, Billy Gunn & Roaddog and Rhino and usually they are beating the guy that brought TNA to the dance..just last week they gave away another great dream match in Angle VS Styles and had Styles job cleanly to Angle. What the hell is wrong with TNA?
And finally tonight's last topic..Rp Promos..I think all the Rp wrestling feds that have a Promo board should change it to a "Segment" board. instead of just cutting a promo to build a match do more, be creative. you rarely see just simple promos on TV anymore. Think about it..for the about the last year and a half of WCW existance feuds were born out of just simple promos...someone would go to the ring and say something..then some other random wrestler would come out a basically say.."I don't like you" "I don't like what you stand for" "Lets fight"..terrible. Lets face it..not everyone is good at cutting promos...hell I suck at cutting promos myself..that why if the AWX shows still exist on someones computer somehwere you will find very few Meng Lao promos..but you will find lots of segments.
let me give you an example..this is something I was toying with a senario for Meng to come out of retirement...Kandi is in the ring getting the crowd going for the show..she aknowledges the fact that Meng is in the audience at this particualr show...while hse is in the ring a Classey Freddie Blassie character comes out..I would have called him the "The Classic" Eddie Blasick "The Beverly Hills Fasion Plate" Not bad huh? Anyway he comes to the ring and grabs the mic and starts shooting off his mouth saying something to the effect of "What's the world coming to when some dumb broad is running a wrestling company" followed by more sexist remarks..Kandi gets pissed and snatches back the mic and says something to the effect of " Tell me what do you think is worse working in a company run by a woman or getting your ass kicked by one..Kandi then drops the mic and kicks Eddie square in the nuts and starts pummeling the shit out of him..then out of nowhere come a large samoan wildman name Omega...can you guess who his character is?..he grabs Kandi and tosses her in across his shoulders and flattens her with a Samoan drop he then drags her to the corner sitting her against the turn buckles and squashes her in the corner with the running ass blast to the face...he then drags her by the hair to the middle of the ring and pulls her to her feet..Eddie give Omega the breaking motion with his hands signalling the Omega factor (Samoan spike)...having seen enough Meng flips out kicking over a section of the railing and rolls in to the ring behind Omega..Eddie sees me and gets the hell out of the ring..Omega goes for the Omega Factor and Meng catches his hand in mid stryde..Omega turns around face to face with Meng..Meng starts yelling at Omega amontishing him for what he did and was going to do..Omaga slaps Meng across the face..The fas are going nuts think Meng is gonna destroy this guy..Meng snaps gripping Omega by the throat backing him in to the ropes it looks like Meng is going to Destroy Omega but then inexplicably Meng lets Omega go...Meng turns his attention to Kandi..Omega seizes Meng's moment of "weakness" and drills him in the throat with the "Omega Factor"..Omega leaves with his handler after making an impressive debut..and Kandi is left lying in the ring and Meng is left writhing in the ring clutching his throat and the fans are left wondering why Meng didn't destroy Omega...Not a bad segment if I do say so myself...and for those who are curious the reason Meng didn't attack Omega which would have been revelaed later on in another segment was because Omega is Meng's Nephew...not a bad twist either if I do say so myself.
to the above is much more entertaining and compelling for a storyline feud than one guy coming out to the ring telling the world why he so much better than his opponent and then his opponent comes out to the ring and does the same thing
Thats it for this edition of the Meng Dynasty and as always feel free to respond to anything you read here!
